Vekoma Colt Tops The July Sale; Stakes Winner Our Moneyman Sets $2,000,000 Record Price at July Selected Horses of Racing Age
The 2026 Fasig-Tipton July Sale of selected yearlings and July Selected Horses of Racing Age sale were held Tuesday at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, KY. The July Sale posted a record average and median, while the July Selected Horses of Racing Age sale topper Our Moneyman sold for a sale record $2,000,000.

A colt by Vekoma (hip 135) topped the sale when purchased for $600,000 by Legion Bloodstock, agent, from the consignment of breeder Shawhan Place (video). The chestnut colt is the second foal out of the winning Uncle Mo mare Passionate Dream, a half-sister to Uncle Mo’s graded stakes winning daughter Paradise Lake. Hip 135 hails from the immediate family of Horse of the Year Zenyatta and Grade 1 winner Balance.
“It was a great start to the yearling sales season,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “We felt very positive based on the activity we saw on the grounds over the weekend and we’re delighted with the overall results.”
Rounding out the top five hips of The July Sale were:
- A filly by Girvin (hip 166), sold for $450,000 to Tom McCrocklin, agent, from the consignment of Airdrie Stud Raised & Offered, agent. The bay filly is out of the Uncle Mo mare Sentimental Song, from the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Pirate’s Revenge, Sweet Catomine, and Life Is Sweet. Hip 166 was bred in Kentucky by Champion Equine.
- A colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Taiba (hip 36), sold for $300,000 to Taproot Bloodstock, agent, from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. The bay colt is out of the Tiznow mare Dayfa, from the immediate family of Horses of the Year Saint Liam and Gun Runner. Hip 36 was bred in Kentucky by Don Alberto Corporation.
- A filly by Vekoma (hip 219), sold for $300,000 to Tom McCrocklin, agent, from the consignment of Warrendale Sales, agent. The chestnut filly is out of the Malibu Moon mare Westlake Lady, a daughter of multiple stakes winner Ready Signal. Hip 219 was bred in Kentucky by Kuehne Racing.
- A colt by McKinzie (hip 109) sold for $285,000 to Ryder Finney, agent, from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Margaretta, a Munnings full sister to stakes winners Fancy Dress Party and Will Munnings. Hip 109 was bred in Kentucky by Hunter Valley Farm & Brian Graves.
“As usually, we had a really good combination of end users participating and a significant level of pinhookers participating as well,” added Browning. “We value their participation because the types of horses that we sell at The July Sale are the types of athletes likely to perform well at a two-year-olds in training sale. But there are a lot of racehorses that come out of this sale to appeal to end users as well.”
Over the course of The July Sale, 147 yearlings sold for $17,096,000, up a point over last year, when 159 yearlings sold for $16,968,000. The average and median were both sale records: the average was $116,299, up 9% percent from $106,717 in 2026 and the median was $95,000, up 5.6% from the previous record of $90,000, set in 2024 and tied last year. The RNA rate was 22.6%.

The July Selected Horses of Racing Age sale was topped by multiple graded stakes placed Our Moneyman (hip 365), sold for a record $2,000,000 to Pedro Lanz, agent for KAS Stables (video). Hunter Valley Farm, agent for Allied Racing, consigned. Our Moneyman was a stakes winner at two and is twice runner up in graded stakes company this year at three. In June, he was second to Kentucky Derby favorite Further Ado in the Matt Winn S. (G3) at Churchill Downs. On Saturday, he was just a neck second in the Indiana Derby (G3), a race in which he recorded a career-best 95 Beyer while closing determinedly after his jockey lost the crop at the sixteenth pole. The Louisiana-bred son of Mr. Money has recorded three consecutive 90+ Beyers this year, and has never been out of the money in nine starts to date on his way to earnings of $392,067.
“The horses of racing age sale is always a very interesting and dynamic exercise,” said Browning. “Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to approach the owners of Our Moneyman and offer a unique opportunity to market their horse. He’s a legitimate horse. He’s the kind of horse that can have your dreaming of major results in his three-year-old campaign and down the road in the rest of his career.”
During the Horses of Racing Age sale, 38 racehorses sold for $6,428,000, good for a sale record average of $169,158 and a median of $85,000. The RNA rate was 6.7%.
