50% Ownership Interest in Silent Tactic sells for $1,500,000 on Fasig-Tipton Digital
Fasig-Tipton Digital’s Silent Tactic Flash Sale concluded just after noon Eastern today, with a 50% interest in Travers Stakes hopeful Silent Tactic selling to Victoriam Racing for $1.5 million.
The 50% interest was consigned by Justin Casse, agent for John Oxley. Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse conditions the graded stakes-winning three-year-old colt, who finished third in the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) on August 1, earning a career-best 94 Beyer Speed Figure. The effort pushed Silent Tactic’s career earnings past $1.1 million.
Silent Tactic is targeting the G1 Travers Stakes on August 29 at Saratoga Race Course for his next start.
“After the Jim Dandy, we had interest from parties around the world, but we didn’t want to sell the whole horse,” said consignor Justin Casse. “While I was on the treadmill one day, I had the thought of selling a 50% interest online through Fasig-Tipton, and they loved the idea. We didn’t anticipate a domestic buyer purchasing the interest, but obviously that’s what happened, which worked out well.”
Casse continued: “Kudos to Mr. Oxley for being a great sportsman and thinking outside the box to make this happen. The fact that we were able to utilize Fasig-Tipton, with its experience and proven digital platform, made everything so easy and produced a great result.
“The horse is doing as well as he ever has, looks as good as he ever has, and we’re excited to see him run in the Travers with our new partners.”
Kelly Mahoney of Victoriam Racing, which purchased the 50% interest, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Silent Tactic to the Victoriam Racing program and especially excited for the opportunity to align with John Oxley and his team. As we continue to grow, our goal is to compete at the highest level of the sport while building a lasting legacy through our breeding program. We believe Silent Tactic is an important immediate addition to our racing operation, and we look forward to seeing him represent Victoriam in upcoming events.”
The next scheduled auction on Fasig-Tipton Digital is the August Digital Sale, which will take place August 27 through September 1. Entries close Monday, Aug. 17.
