Pioneerof the Nile Half-Sister to MG1W Bast Sells for $430,000

Hip 140, a filly by the late Pioneerof the Nile, sold for $430,000 at The November Sale. The dark bay or brown filly was purchased by Giant Elf Bloodstock from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Pioneerof the Nile is the sire of 2015 Triple Crown Champion and Horse of the Year American Pharoah. With seven crops to race, Pioneerof the Nile is already the sire of four champions in North America, including Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old Males American Pharoah and Classic Empire.

This filly is out of the Arch mare Laffina, whose first foal is multiple Grade 1 winner Bast (Uncle Mo). Bast has two wins in four starts this year, including a runaway victory in the Del Mar Debutante S. (G1) and a determined win in the Chandelier S. (G1). She was most recently third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and is being pointed towards the Starlet S. (G1).

Dam Laffina is a half-sister to 10 winners, including Grade 2 winner Mananan McLir and stakes winners Big Sur and Charming N Loveable, the latter the dam of Grade 1 winner Fault and two stakes placed winners. Laffina is also a half-sister to graded stakes placed Sandra's Rose, dam of undefeated Street Sense S. winner South Bend, and to the dam of Grade 2 winner Fioretti.
