LA MANTA GRIS, a stakes placed winner by LEMON DROP KID, ended the 2019 Kentucky Winter Mixed sale on a high note when sold for $285,000 as the last horse through the ring. The gray or roan mare was purchased by Jacques Sparrow Bloodstock from the consignment of Lane's End, agent.

Five-year-old La Manta Gris was a stakes placed winner at 3 and 4, finishing third in the Dueling Grounds Oaks as a sophomore and third in the Keertana Overnight S. last year. She was campaigned by owner Black River Stable and trainer George Arnold, and has earned $211,362 in 18 starts to date. She was sold as a racing/broodmare prospect.

La Manta Gris is one of three winners from as many to race out of QUIERO GANAR, a winning full sister to Grade 1 winning millionaire HONEY RYDER. In addition to those two, second dam CUANDO QUIERE produced seven other winners, including graded stakes winner CUANDO PUEDE, herself the dam of graded stakes winner HIT IT RICH and stakes winner SPANISH MISSION, and stakes winner CUANDO, who produced graded stakes winner DOMINUS.
