Zayat Goes to $310,000 for Son of American Pharoah

A colt from the first crop of Horse of the Year AMERICAN PHAROAH sold for $310,000 during the second session of The October Sale. Offered as Hip 580, the chestnut colt was purchased by Zayat Stables, who campaigned AMERICAN PHAROAH, from the consignment of Woods Edge Farm, agent.

Out of the winning MR. GREELEY mare GLOAT, this colt hails from an exclusive Phipps family which goes back to Broodmare of the Year PERSONAL ENSIGN. Dam is out of a graded stakes placed full sister to champion filly STORM FLAG FLYING and is herself a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and multiple graded stakes winner PARADING and to two other graded stakes horses. Third dam is multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire MY FLAG, dam of five winners, including STORM FLAG FLYING and stakes winner WITH FLYING COLORS who, in turn, produced graded stakes winner TERESA Z. The immediate family also includes Grade 1 winners PERSONAL FLAG, MINER’S MARK, TRADITIONALLY, MR SPEAKER, and SEEKING THE SOUL.

Hip 580 was bred in Ontario.
