Mike Watchmaker Analysis
A 3-year-old colt by the incredible Tapit, sire of six champions and 60 graded stakes winners, and sire of such recent Grade 1 stakes winners at Tapwrit, winner of the Belmont Stakes, and Cupid, winner of the Gold Cup at Santa Anita, and he is also stakes placed. He came from off the pace to win his debut last fall at Churchill Downs, beating subsequent Grade 3 stakes winner and classics participant J Boys Echo, and doing so in decisive fashion. Two starts later, he came from well off the pace to finish second in the Springboard Mile at Remington Park. He was unlucky in his most recent outing, a first-level allowance route at Oaklawn Park, but still made a very nice middle move that day – the kind of move that will translate to wins with better racing luck. Notably, he has been working steadily at Keeneland and Churchill Downs for his return to action. He is from Jackpot Joanie, by Giant’s Causeway, making him a full brother to the graded stakes placed duo of Taxable and Synkros. His dam is also a half sister to Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks winner Summerfly, and the stakes placed Let ‘Em Go.
