Mike Watchmaker Analysis
Already stakes placed, this 3-year-old filly has run very well on turf in all three of her career starts. She was well regarded from the outset, being sent off as the favorite in an 11 horse field in her debut sprinting against straight maidens last year at Kentucky Downs. She came from off the pace to be a fine second, beaten less than two lengths for the money. Pure Michigan returned in February going two turns at Fair Grounds, and improved off her promising debut five months earlier, coming from well off the pace to easily best 11 opponents. That performance earned her a shot at the LaCombe Memorial at Fair Grounds in her most recent outing, in which she finished a game second. It should also be noted that this filly very recently was back on the workout tab at Churchill Downs. She is by Temple City, sire of excellent recent Grade or Group 1 winners as Annals of Time, Jicamon, and the prolific Miss Temple City. She is out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Ladysaren’tlemons, and her third dam is Susurration, a group stakes winner in France, winner in England, and group stakes placed in Italy.
