Mike Watchmaker Analysis
A 5-year-old son of Dehere, he certainly does not need to carry his track with him. He has won on synthetic surfaces, and in the mud, and was only a neck shy of winning on the turf as well, all while competing strictly against overnight competition. He was very solid right from the get go, romping at first asking at Turfway Park, finishing a close third at Presque Isle Downs two starts later, and then almost going wire to wire in a strongly run allowance event at Kentucky Downs two starts after that. But as good as he was last year, he might have been at his sharpest winning his two starts this year, both at Mountaineer Park. Despite coming off a five month break, he won his 2014 bow by more than 10 lengths, and followed with a decisive off-the-pace victory. That win underscores just how good he is right now as up until that point, his calling card had been his fine early speed. He is from the Coronado’s Quest mare Zia Philomena, a half sister to the stakes winners and multiple graded stakes placed Wild Deputy and Deb’s Honor, and the dam of the stakes winner and stakes winning producer All Of Her Twist.
